Black and White.....and Pink!

The challenge at Jitterbuggin' this week is to use black and white with one more color. I love black /white and pink! And what fit this better than the cute little skunk from Create a Critter. I followed the sketch with a 5" card....cut the small square at 3"....and added a 2 3/4" skunk (detailed with dimensional paint and gel pen). Then I added two great flowers that I learned how to do from my friend Kim Sparks' terrific site.....Sketches in Thyme. The flowers are made from a Martha Stewart circle punch (circles for PaperCraft Star)....added buttons, floss, and a pompon. Paper is old (this is for you Practical Scrappers....)DCWV Christmas 2008 stack.......I used strips of the patterned paper to create borders, along with a little help from some pinking shears. I hope this card doesn't "stink!"

Merry Christ-mouse!

The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut this week is Christmas in July! My daughter suggested a mouse because they make her think of Christmas...and I've never tried the one on Create a Critter. He's cut normally at 3". He needed clothes so I decided to use the snowman accessories from Snow Friends. Worked pretty well....cut the hat and brim at 1 1/2" Real Dial Size and the vest at 1/2"" I'm not sure what the scarf is because it was just an extra cut that worked perfectly. I decorated him with pink chalk and white gel pen.....some green dimensional paint, and some glitter glaze...topped off with a pearl button. I was going to make a card, but while hunting through "the closet" I found a round piece of chipboard that was just the right size for Mr. Mouse. So I decided an ornament would be cute. Covered the chipboard with DCWV paper...added a red ribbon....and trimmed around the edges with green scalloped ribbon that was just the perfect size. I think this might be my Christmas card for this year......they are flat enough to mail....they won't get thrown away....and think of all the fun creating the Christmas critters!!
"Critters" is the theme at My Sheri Crafts this week so I'm entering this little guy there! And he also works for Polkadoodles Christmas in July theme.

Sunny Days

Made this card for the Jitterbuggin' Challenge this week. Now I know I made the sketch...and I really like it.....but I had so much trouble making it in pastels. I kept thinking "brights"......finally found a scrap of pastel blue, tourquoise, lavendar paper with golden yellow accents. That was a start.....Added the paper....embossed some lavendar cardstock with the Checkerboard folder and added scraps of ribbon that were exactly the right size and color....BUT they said "Fun in the Sun." I still had no idea what image I was going to use....and now it had to coordinate with that. Hmmmm.....well, I knew the challenge at Cuttlebug Challenge was garden critters....so I could work that in too. I knew I wanted to add more embossing to the card so it would work for Practical Scrappers this week as well. Always loved the little bee on Pooh and Friends so decided to put him on some embossed flowers. Had a great little scrap of gunmetal metallic paper that was just right for the little fella's wings. Added a seed bead for the eye (I seem to be out of little itty bitty white gems....)

Now the little guy needed a home so out came Walk in My Garden. Cut 4 daisies on blackout, between 1 1/4" and 2"....embossed them with Swiss Dots...and inked them in lavendar. Added purple buttons for the centers. Now they needed stems....but that paper had the funny tourquoise stripe....and every piece of ribbon or floss I owned looked bad against it......SO I found the right color ink (thanks Anna Griffin) and inked some white raffia to match....added stems and a bow. The sentiment is from Create a Critter, cut at 1 1/2". And finally, the card is finished. And the one I almost gave up several times came out ok.

Summertime!

It's summertime.....and the folks at Fantabulous Cricut want to see your cool summertime treats this week. I chose my favorite summer fruit - watermelon. It is optional shaped card week, and I went for it. Actually, this is my first shaped card ever.

The watermelon is from Doodlecharms....layered with some pop dots. The red/pink part lifts for the sentiment. (I forgot to take the picture......) The crow is made from Doodlecharms too.....the eggs and hearts for the feathers. Her hat is from Paper Doll Dress Up as are her "turkey" legs. Flowers are Prima with some buttons and floss.

I made this card on vacation......with my Baby Bug. I didn't have Design Studio or a Gypsy.....just trial and error on the sizes. It was a really fun card to make....but I am sure glad to be home with my Expression!!

Hula Bear Card

My little niece is having a Luau for her third birthday this week. I wanted a cutsie, little girl hula girl instead of the one on Life's a Beach......so I made my own with Create a Critter and Paper Doll Dress Up. (and a Bikini top from Life's a Beach) Anyway, I like how she turned out.....just right for a little tiny girl.

First, I chose the sketch from RAQ's challenge on the Cricut board this week. I used the bear from Create a Critter cut at 3 1/4"....black regular cut.....ivory layer one.....brown layer two. Inked the cheeks and put some flowers on her ears...added a bikini top from Life's a Beach....cut at Real Dial Size 1 1/4 inches...added a flower and a gem. The skirt is from Paper Doll Dress up....regular cut at 4 1/4" and 4 3/4", inked and popped between the layers. Her lei is cut from PDDU too @ 4 1/4".....added more flowers and gems. The paper is from Me and My Big Ideas.....ribbon is American Crafts (blue and green) and Target $1 bin (orange). The metal flower slides are from Oriental Trading. Added frames cut with my oval Nesties...and pop dots. "Happy Birthday" is from Create a Critter.....doodled.

No Gypsy or Design Studio ( I don't have the latter.....and I can't figure out my Gypsy) so no cut file....but it's easy to follow with the measurements above.

Beach Fun - Jitterbuggin Sketch 8

Greetings from beautiful Edisto Beach, SC! I'm having a great time on vacation....and found the inspiration to make this fun card for Jitterbuggin' this week. Card is 5" square. The paper is from a DCWV summer stack...cut into 2 1/4" squares to follow the pattern. The center rectangle is embossed with the basket weave folder, trimmed out with red and orange ribbon, and edged with the pinking scissors. The cuts are from Life's a Beach....beach cut at 2 1/2" in yellow and orange....layered with pop dots. Cut the pelican from the title....layered him in white with more pop dots....and added silver metallic and black accents. The little crab is cut at 1"...detailed with a sharpie. Added some more ribbon and bright yellow buttons. Now doesn't this make you wish you were here???

Hop over to Jitterbuggin' Challenge and show me your beach creation.........you could win a new Sentimentals cartridge.

I'm also adding this card to the Polka Doodles summer themed challenge for this week. Wanna feel really summery??? Go over there and look at the fab DT creations!!

Bunches of Bees - Fantabulous Cricut #17

Yeah!!   I am now a member of the Fantabulous Cricut Design Team.   It's a fantastic site with lots of fun challenges, and I'm so excited about being a part of this talented group of ladies.

My first project for them is for this week's challenge #17 Creepy Crawlies.   You had to use a bug, the color orange, and as always at Fantabulous Cricut, your Cricut

I used the coneflowers from Walk in My Garden, layered and pop dotted....accent leaves from there as well.  Ran the centers and the orange flower throught the Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots.  Added some green floss for stems and bow.  The little bees are from Create a Critter, cut at 1" and 1 1/4", inked, and added just a little crystal glazing.  The sentiment is a Quickutz die, cut in my Cuttlebug.  Paper is Me and My Big Ideas and DCWV Flower Shower stack.  Ribbon trim was from my scrap bag.
