Easter chick

I am behind in making Easter cards so I'm going to make variations of the same card. I found a cute little chick pillow on Oriental Trading's website (a great place to go for craft inspiration....don't buy much there, but I like to look...) I thought it would be an easy design to copy.

I used a 4" yellow George oval for the face...inked it....used the George triangle 2 1 1/2" (trimmed down a bit) for the nose...inked it...and the eyes are the snowball layers on Doodlecharms, cut a double set at 1". This is the easiest way to get small circles that I have found. Used some white gel pens to make his eyes look "real". Used chalk ink for the cheeks. The bonnet is the pioneer boy's on PPDU cut at real-dial 3". I cut it apart.....embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder (this is my FAVORITE!!!) and attached the brim with pop dots for dimension. I added some ribbon flowers and a big flower cut on George 1 1/2" on metallic paper, 1 1/4" on cardstock, and attached a button center. The bow tie is the layer feature on the baby head of Doodlecharms, cut at real dial 3", embossed, inked, and button attached. I only glued down the center so it would stand out. I'm going to make these chicks in different colors and find an EASY sketch to follow to make the cards. I love pastel prints and dots so I have lots of patterned papers to use.

Soccer Girl

I let a birthday sneak up on me, and I needed a quick birthday card. I loved the soccer frog one so I tried a girl version. Not thrilled with how it turned out, but it was a quicky. As I edited the picture, I realized I should have used markers for the stamp....never thought about it as I was making it. Frog is a digi stamp from Pink Petticoat.

Brown and Blue Birthday Card - 2 in 1 Challenge Cupcake Crafts #31 and A Spoon Full of Sugar #43

Happy birthday, Jennifer! I love brown so this week's challenge at Cupcake Crafts (use brown + either blue, green or pink) was a snap! I chose some printed paper by Creative Imaginations and some matching cardstock for the card. Sentiment is a rub-on. I inked the edges, attached a brown ribbon and silk flowers (from the Joann's $1 packages), and remembered that the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar was to use gems. Those flowers needed gems for centers.........and this simple card fulfilled two challenges!

Caribbean Cutie!

I needed a little girl to go on some recipe pages for a swap on in - Pina Colada cupcakes.....YUM! Anyway, here is the creation. Doll is cut at 3" on blackout; peachy keen simple simon face with chalked cheeks. The hair is the ballet dancer, enhanced with a marker. Bow is the clown's bowtie cut at 1 1/2", enhanced with a gold gel pen. The bikini top is the island girl - the belt is the pirates sash-shorts are the leprechaun. Sandals are from the wise man in the nativity series. I had some great cardstock that was double sided. Since I made 20 of these little babes, I kept flipping patterns. If you're willing to play with PPDU, the combos are endless! It is my favorite cartridge!

Here's the finished card for my aunt and uncle. I used scraps of paper, some decorative edge scissors, computer generated font, and some Prima flowers with pearl insets. I used my Cuttlebug embosser on the olive green cardstock.

My aunt and uncle have an anniversary on St. Patrick's Day and I made this little couple to go on their card.

Bride" 3" paper doll cut on blackout. Bride's dress cut once in white and once in green for inset. Used a gold gel pen to embellish. White layer ran through Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots folder. Brides hair and shoes. Veil is cut on dotted swiss vellum, decorated with a piece of scrap yellow I cut with a cuttlebug die cut/embossing element. The gloves are the Prom Girl's....I put them on front and back of hands. The bouquet is paper flowers with pearls added. Happy Birthday Grandma - cupcake crafts challenge #28

It is my dear grandmother's 90th birthday, and this is her card. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but when I saw the great challenge from Cupcake Crafts this week, this image popped into my head. I used a peachy pink medallion paper from making Memories and a piece of vellum with cabbage roses on it from The Paper Factory. Trimmed everything with ribbon, and used Christmas Cheer's scalloped frame for the center. I cut double and layered with pop dots. Then I took lots of peachy pink paper flowers, attached them, and set pearls in the center. (My Grandma's name is Pearl!!) Lettering is stickers.
