Cupcake card

The challenge at Fantabulous Cricut this week is to use a green circle. I chose to use green scalloped circles (EK Success punch....but Storybook has them if you don't have a punch). I had a template for a cut out cupcake card I found on the internet at some point.....used it.....and made green circle icing. I decorated the back and the front so the card will stand up well. Wrapped it up in a bow.....and added a cherry from Create a Critter, embossed with Tim Holz Alterations embossing folder (Swirls) and topped with glitter glaze. The inside says, "Hope your birthday is sweet!"

Cupcake Craft Challenge #37 - My mom's mother's day card

Cupcake crafts challenge #37 was to use 5 different embellishments on a card. I chose to try this on my mom's mother's day card. Background paper is DCWV. Everything on this card is George - the flower pot is made from two of the shape cuts-embossed with birds and swirls. The flowers are George flower 2....cut at 1 1/2" and 1"-inked and layered. The purple flowers are flower 2 folded around a toothpick. Lettering is George too. The little birdie is Stretch Your Imagination.

My 5 embellishments are 1) raffia 2) charm 3) buttons 4 ) rhinestones 5) square beads. There is also green wired ribbon used for stems on the flowers, but it all got covered up!

Happy Birthday Jeremy! Boy is PPDU cut at 4" pioneer boy pants and pirate boy shirt (cut off the sleeves) Hair is pirate boy (markers and ink) and shoes are Raggedy boy. The kite is a folded paper creation with a button and bow. "10" is cut from Mickey Font and doodled......I can't remember where the paper is from.

This is for Cupcake craft challenge (use folds - the kite), a Spoon full of Sugar (put the age on the card - 10) and the sketch is from Sketch Saturday.

Basketful of Wishes - Cupcake Crafts #33

A birthday card for my aunt. I used the great sketch from Cupcake Crafts Challenge. The basket is Doodlecharms - cut once regular and once on shadow (2 1/2") I made a weave of American Crafts ribbon on the basket (the slits are there, but I enlarged them with an X-acto knife)....put the baskets together with little pink heart brads and put some foam strip between the layers for dimension. The flowers are George....from the scrap basket...with little bling centers. (I don't know how anyone scraps without those George flowers....I put them on everything!) Paper is from the DCWV Spring Stack. Sentiment is computer generated. Buttons/ribbon emellishments.

Brown and Blue Birthday Card - 2 in 1 Challenge Cupcake Crafts #31 and A Spoon Full of Sugar #43

Happy birthday, Jennifer! I love brown so this week's challenge at Cupcake Crafts (use brown + either blue, green or pink) was a snap! I chose some printed paper by Creative Imaginations and some matching cardstock for the card. Sentiment is a rub-on. I inked the edges, attached a brown ribbon and silk flowers (from the Joann's $1 packages), and remembered that the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar was to use gems. Those flowers needed gems for centers.........and this simple card fulfilled two challenges!

Happy Birthday Grandma - cupcake crafts challenge #28

It is my dear grandmother's 90th birthday, and this is her card. I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but when I saw the great challenge from Cupcake Crafts this week, this image popped into my head. I used a peachy pink medallion paper from making Memories and a piece of vellum with cabbage roses on it from The Paper Factory. Trimmed everything with ribbon, and used Christmas Cheer's scalloped frame for the center. I cut double and layered with pop dots. Then I took lots of peachy pink paper flowers, attached them, and set pearls in the center. (My Grandma's name is Pearl!!) Lettering is stickers.

2 for 1! cupcake color challenge #25 and Saturday sketches #36

Used the sketch from Sketch Saturday and the colors from Cupcake Crafts Challenge to create a birthday card for a dear relative. The image is from a children's coloring book called Sugar Girls, scanned, shrunk, and watercolored. Fun card to make....I love purple!

The inside says, "We won't say how long ago.......happy birthday!"

Cupcake Craft challenge TOP 5!!!!!

Woke up this morning and went to check my Monday blogs.....Cupcake Crafts Challenge......and WOW!!!! There I was among the Top 5! I am so excited! Cupcake crafts was the first challenge I entered back in October, and it is one of my absolute favorites. Their DT is awesome, and they really change up their challenges each week. The card that won, "You Make My Heart Flutter", was my first shaker card as well. Thanks to Cupcake Crafts for their great challenges. Now I get to display a cute little blinkie on my blog!

Cupcake Craft Challenge #24 High Hopes Challenge #15 You Make My Heart Flutter

This is my first shaker card! It was so much fun too. The stamps are High Hopes (played with on the computer until I get the size I need), the paper is from Target $1 stuff, and I used my Christmas Cheer cartridge frame feature (snowglobe) to get the frame cut. The pink cardstock is embossed with the swiss dots folder and the ribbon at the bottom is from Wal-Mart. Guess what is used for the "shakers"? Cupcake sprinkles shaped like hearts!

To make the shaker card I cut out the frame and 2 squares of acetate the same size. I attached one piece of acetate to the card. The other piece I attached to the frame with some double sided tape. Then I put the sprinkles on the acetate and attached the frame with foam strips to add dimension........that's it.

Cupcake Challenge this week is a 3 2 1 card. I used 3 pieces of cardstock, 2 embellishments (blutterflies), and 1 ribbon. They have such creative DT cards on their site....check it out. (Link on side)

High Hope Stamps challenge was to use hearts. I've got hearts on the paper....hearts on the butterflies....and heart shakers! So much fun.....I LOVE High Hopes Stamps.

Cupcake Challenge 23 Love Stinks

Cupcake Crafts Challenge this week was a great sketch by Lauren. I had to turn it on its side, but this one was really easy to work with. I used a High Hopes Stamp (Tink) for the image, colored in watercolors. The butterflies are a MS punch with some glitter added. The yellow paper flowers are attached with brads as are the little black flowers (which I cut out with my Cuttlebug) at the bottom. Sentiment is computer generated and hand cut. Most everything on this card got a dose of clear glitter. Papers used are Doodlebug. I love the black paper with the glittered, flocked flowers. My homage to one of my favorite J. Geils Band songs.

Hogs and Kisses - High Hopes #12/Cupcake Challenge #21

I was NOT going to make cards this year.....I was going to do layouts. But I checked out 2 of my favorite blogs - High Hopes Stamps and Cupcake Craft Challenge....and of course, there were challenges I had to take up!!! Besides I need a birthday card for a pig lover this week...........

I used the High Hopes "Pickles" character. He is colored with watercolors with some glitter bling! Found 2 little rhinestones for his buttons. The lips are the balloon from the stamp, scanned, and enlarged. I used MS glitter to make them shine; then attached them with pop dots. The sentiment is computer generated and then ripped and inked. Found some Cherry Art paper in the drawer that was just perfect and backed everything with some DCWV cardstock and metallic pink accents.

The High Hopes Challenge was for torn paper. The sentiment, the bottom of the image backing, and the yellow accent strip are all torn. The Cupcake Challenge was to use glitter. The balloons, the pig's snout, the trim on his overalls, and the big lips are all glittered. And I added some glitter to the center background of the card along with the metallic cardstock and torn paper accent.

I actually like this card.........usually they don't turn out the way I hoped, but this one did!

Cupcake Craft Challenge #20

Cupcake Craft Challenge #20 was to use the blog bacakground as inspiration for your project. I love pink and brown......and that background just screams....chocolate! I used Doodlecharms' cupcake, the swiss dots embossing folder, some great felt ribbon, and perfect cupcake embossed paper from Love, Elsie. Little dimensional paint, watercolors, and some sparkles for fun!

Cupcake Craft Challenge 17

This week's cupcake challenge was a great sketch. I had not made the PPDU Santa and was really wanting to try him so he and Rudolph became the focus of this card. They are cut at 3 inches and embellished with gel pins, glitter, and dimensional paint. Rudolph got a jewel nose. The paper is DCWV and KI Memories and ribbon is Wal-Mart. Stamps for the sentiment are Doodlebug.

Cupcake Craft Challenge #15 Make Your Season Bright

The challnge this week at Cupcake Crafts was to make a card with something sweet. I wanted to make a candy cane heart, and when searching through my paper, I found this bright pink/black candy cane pattern in the DCWV Christmas stack. I knew this was what to use when I found the little stamp with "Make Your Season Bright" on it. Candy canes are from Christmas Cheer (4" regular pink, 4" shift in white, 4" shadow in black) Then I cut a heart out of gun metal metallic cardstock to mount the candy canes on. Ribbon is from Wal-Mart.

This card was from a sketch on Cupcake Crafts Challenge. I used DCWV paper, oval pumpkins from George (thanks Hallmark Ladies for the great tutorial!), and some stickers from the "closet." Trimmed it with rafia and a brad.

The idea came from the great daily challenge at Cricut.com - today was use brown, rusty orange, and light blue.
